Engaging Every Family for Literacy Development
The purpose of the “Engaging Every Family for Literacy Development” project is to provide districts in Ohio receiving “Reaching All Students Through Language and Literacy” grants, and other staff who support them (e.g., Ohio Department of Education state and regional staff, American Institutes for Research liaisons), with engaging coursework and resources related to research-based family engagement. This aligns with Ohio’s Whole Child Framework and Ohio’s Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement. The Ohio State University will provide a professional learning course for grantees. This will ensure that the grantees and staff who support them have a foundational understanding of effective, research-based family engagement, and access to resources they can use to engage families in enhancing student literacy achievement. The coursework will support the schools as they work to improve their system of support for families and students who were hardest hit by the pandemic-related school shutdowns.
