Artificial Intelligence Literacy for Families and Schools

As part of CETE’s AI in Education Program Area, the Artificial Intelligence Literacy for Families and Schools Project is dedicated to supporting families and educators with the knowledge and tools to navigate an AI-driven world. In partnership with the family engagement program area, this initiative bridges the gap between home and school by providing AI literacy resources, professional learning sessions, and immersive experiences that help parents and teachers integrate AI into student learning.

Through pilot programs at Metro Middle School in Columbus, Ohio, CETE introduced interactive workshops, infographics, and hands-on VR learning experiences to support AI-based family engagement. The project has already led to increased confidence among educators and parents in using AI tools, fostering a sense of belonging and digital readiness, especially for underrepresented groups. Building on this success, CETE’s new program area in AI in Education & Training is already expanding AI literacy efforts across Ohio and beyond. This new program reflects CETE’s broader mission to create research-driven AI education programs, ensuring that families, educators, and students can actively and ethically engage with AI in their daily lives.
