Face-to-Face and Virtual DACUM Workshops

About this Learning Experience

DACUM International Training Center associates have over 25 years of experience conducting DACUM workshops for clients in a variety of settings from companies to community colleges to government agencies and professional organizations. Many organizations choose to have us conduct their workshops to take advantage of this experience and expertise and ensure a productive outcome.  The client and DACUM facilitators facilitate the workshop to deliver a professional analysis with a DACUM chart as the outcome.

DACUM Research Chart for High Performing Building Operations Professional (2016)

This DACUM analysis was conducted for the Building Efficiency for a Sustainable Tomorrow (BEST) Center in California. It identified the job duties and tasks needed to manage a facility equipped with high-performance infrastructure.   The chart is intended to be a tool to develop a curriculum for training persons to manage buildings like this.

The SCID Institute will launch in an online format in 2025.

About this Learning Experience

Our SCID institute is a follow-on program to the Developing a Curriculum (DACUM) training. It picks up where DACUM leaves off and teaches you how to develop components of a competency-based training program. Participation in the DACUM training is a prerequisite.

Participants will acquire the knowledge and skills to be able to verify and prioritize tasks and develop competency-based instructional materials such as task analysis, scope and sequence document, on-the-job training (OJT) manual, and performance assessments. Individual work and group instruction are supplemented with instructor coaching and feedback to make it a truly hands-on learning experience.

Timeline
Approximately 40 hours of instruction over an 8-week timeframe

Format
This online institute includes asynchronous (does not take place in real-time), self-paced learning experiences available 24/7 as well as several synchronous meetings at intervals throughout the 8-week institute. You will engage with self-knowledge checks, videos, discussion forums, synchronous meetings with fellow participants, and coaching sessions with institute team-leaders.

Included in this learning experience

  • Instruction on the activities involved in the analysis phase of program development including procedures for training needs assessment, task analysis, and task verification and prioritization
  • Small-group interaction and hands-on activities including guidance on identifying existing resources, determining training modality, and developing assessment techniques
  • Practical application of the SCID methodology to develop the primary elements of competency-based instructional resources, including learning objectives, performance measures, instructional media, and OJT manuals
  • Templates and handouts to use in developing instructional resources
  • Extensive one-on-one coaching and feedback
