Statewide Family-Community Engagement Network
The Ohio Family and Community Engagement Network is a long-standing project of CETE with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce to strengthen statewide support for families of students receiving Special Education Services. The network is comprised of representatives of each Ohio regional State Support Team, the Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities, OCALI, and the Ohio Parent Mentor project. As leaders of this Network, CETE’s Family Engagement program team provides opportunities for these family engagement professionals to come together several times a year to learn and grow in their family engagement practice at the regional/organization level. These professionals provide many important functions for families and schools in each Ohio region, such as coaching districts on how to work well with families and providing families with information and tools to advocate for their children. Thus, the Network is an important group of people who help share the work of the Ohio Statewide Family Engagement Center at CETE across Ohio.
In 2025-2026, the Network project also includes a professional learning series for family engagement created and led by the CETE Family Engagement program team for Ohio’s Related Service Providers. These providers include School Psychologists, School Counselors, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, and Intervention Specialists. The CETE Family Engagement program team is developing and delivering this new professional development program in the spring of 2026.
