Sara Owens, MA, MFA

Sara Owens is a Program Specialist at the Center on Education and Training for Employment (CETE) with the Equity, Engagement, and Evaluation Team. Sara earned her bachelor’s degree in English from The Ohio State University in 2009. She then completed a Master of Creative Writing from Full Sail University’s Media and Communications Department. Most recently, she achieved a Master of Public Policy & Management from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University. Currently, she is managing project workflow, meeting facilitation, conducting strategic research, and formulating project work with collaborators and community partners/sponsors.  

Sara is a passionate advocate for public policy and workforce development. With a strong academic foundation in research and a dedication to social and racial justice, Sara thrives on analyzing complex issues and crafting effective policies that drive community improvement. Her work in workforce development empowered at risk individuals and enhanced local economies, reflecting her commitment to creating equitable opportunities for some of Ohio’s most vulnerable populations. Sara’s enthusiasm for continuous learning and public service fuels her impactful contributions to the field. Before her current position, Sara served as a Senior Legislative Aide at the Ohio House of Representatives and as a Workforce Development Coordinator at TAPP Nonprofit Organization.

Sara resides with her family outside Pickerington, Ohio. She enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids as well as volunteering for the Pickerington Youth Athletic Association’s Volleyball Recreation league.
