Professional Development for Educators on Family Engagement

The purpose of Ohio’s State Professional Development Grant (SPDG) awarded to the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) is to identify and address state and local needs for the preparation and professional development of personnel who serve infants, toddlers, preschoolers, or children with disabilities, as well as individuals who provide direct supplementary aids and services to children with disabilities.

CETE works closely with the Ohio Department of Education’s Office for Exceptional Children to provide deep learning in family engagement for regional coaches working in schools. For the current SPDG project, CETE is training regional coaches to implement Partnerships for Literacy, a research-based family engagement program developed by Drs. Boone and Wellman at CETE’s Ohio Statewide Family Engagement Center.
