On September 5-7, 2018, Dr. Bridget McHugh and Laurie Dotson attended the National College Testing Association (NCTA) in Scottsdale, Arizona. The NCTA conference focused on issues related to test accessibility, fairness in test scoring, test security, and test development. Conference attendees included vendors from digital proctoring services, post-secondary test center employees, and test design specialists. The keynote address was given by Dr. James M Lang, one of the leading experts on academic dishonesty. Other notable speakers included former military intelligence officer and current test security specialist Jennings Lawton DePriest.
CETE staff will be using techniques learned at the conference to improve test security for the WebXam through more advanced proctoring procedures, investigative statistical methods, and updated policies.
