In June of 2016, CETE Assessment Services partnered with the Association of Transcribers and Speech-to-text Providers (ATSP) to conduct an occupational analysis of the role of Speech-to-Text Provider. This project was unique in two ways. It was the first time CETE conducted an analysis of this nature completely at a distance using various web technologies. This was done to minimize costs to the client and ensure that geographic representation was achieved from throughout the United States. Second, the result of this project was the first standard of practice for the role of Speech-to-Text Providers. The project created a common definition and body of knowledge for all practitioners to define the role and lay the foundation for ATSP to move toward certification.
